The Energy Solution, by James and Kai

April 28, 2020

Tashombe Leggett, a Portland inventor famous for green energy solutions, has recently come up with a solution for our reliance on fossil fuels. Since we're nearly out of fossil fuels, the U.S. Government Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) agreed to fund the solution. Each building in the U.S. now is outfitted with a small or medium sized, self sustaining, power generation station!

Each of these stations can be made up of solar panels, wind turbines, geothermal power, biofuel burners, or a small hydro paddle wheels. These "stations" components are determined by the building's setting. If the place is in an area where it is very sunny, then the station is mostly solar. If it is by a river, than it is mostly hydro. If it is in a very windy area, then it is mostly wind turbines, and so on. With large deep cycle batteries to store the power for when the energy generators are not generating, people have green energy all the time. Plus, each house has been newly outfitted with renewable energy powered appliances, like phones powered by solar power.

The EPA has also taken the liberty to replace older, power-hoarding light bulbs with energy saving LEDs. Some families in places with unreliable power sources-places that aren't consistently windy, sunny or other forces of nature-have even been provided with a bonus, an exercise bike for when the weather is bad. It is set up to a generate power and helps charge their deep cycle batteries. With this gift, the government also sent out a message: "We hope this change will be grounds for other amazing changes like this one, put together by people like you."

  1. Hello James and Kai,
My name is Christian and I go to Punahou school in Honolulu. I think that this is a wonderful invention to help find alternative energy sources instead of fossil fuels. With these inventions, this can truly change the way we power our world. If we use these more, then our planet will be much more greener. This blog post is very intriguing. Hopefully we will look more into this in the future.
