How to Stop Extreme Weather Events, by Jimmy & Britt

In recent years our planet has faced many problems caused by global warming, one of the  biggest ones is the increase of extreme weather events. Extreme weather events are very important to stop because they are so dangerous. Thunderstorms alone each year cause around 200 deaths and over 700 injuries. Recently, some of the top scientists in the world have come up with greener solutions to stop these catastrophes from destroying the world. Unfortunately most businessmen and politicians don’t listen to them because their goal is to make money. Even though these men and women know it will make the world cleaner, safer and will stop these cataclysms from happening, they are driven for the smell of money. Hopefully though with these powerful green inventions these people will do what’s best for the planet. Since the dawn, of time there have been ice ages and many big storms, but over the last century, due partly to a warm spell, but mostly global warming these extreme events have gotten worse, and grown in number. In 2012 alone more than 26,000 new record temperature highs were set alone this year in only the U.S. Twenty-6-thousand record highs! Thats saying something about our actions to the earth. An example of a very extreme weather event would be the thunderstorm in India, killing over 500 people and costing over 500 trillion dollars to fix. This is the worst thunderstorm in recorded history. That shows that these events aren't getting any better. They won't get better unless we do something about them.

As mentioned  by the scientists, There are solutions to these problems. There have always been simple ways to help fix the problems. There are several simple lifestyle changes that will help our planet, but these changes are a big breakthrough. There are lots of easy options like walking, biking or using public transportation, but in this day of age we need our technology. One of the new inventions is the new "Jim and Co." wind powered car. The car has a big Battery and as you drive, the wind blowing past the car goes into a front compartment, a small turbine, and then that energy is transferred into the battery. This new technology is also cheap, and you never have to buy expensive oil that makes the planet hotter and prone to extreme weather events. Another energy saving invention is the all-electric planes because these planes use no gas, unlike the gas powered planes that use around 4000 gallons per hour. A car uses around 3 gallons per hour, and the new wind powered car for example uses none at all. Why, considering that would you fly in a gas powered plane? Another life saving invention is the water turbine, water heater. This new contraption heats all of your water using natural energy. As the water swishes around a turbine, it creates energy that then heats the water, while using not even a drop of unnatural energy. If we use these new inventions wisely, and don't just throw them away, we can head in the direction of a better world, a world without unnecessary deaths.
